Selma Hernandes received the 16th Pierluigi Galluzzi Prize (Jazz Blues Fest, Polignano) for the album Sou da Paz — the first woman ever to receive the award, joining a roll of honour that includes international names such as Benny Golson, Biréli Lagrène and Enzo Avitabile. "It is a great honour for me," she said.
Selma Hernandes was honoured in the 6th edition of the "Sinfonie d'Autore" prize, at the Amphitheatre of the Maiori marina — in the same edition as Italian star Gianluca Grignani. The event was broadcast on Sky Eurovision.
The DJ Brizi & Selma Hernandes version of Gabriella Ferri's 1974 classic — theme of Ferzan Özpetek's film Saturno Contro — became a hit on Italian radio, climbing Radio Deejay's "Fifty Songs" chart and ranking among the most-played tracks on the country's stations. Selma Hernandes — with a jazz quintet and guest saxophonist Daniele Scannapieco — opens the Fondazione Valente's new season on 20 February at the Auditorium Regina Pacis (Molfetta).
